Andy Shephard -

Virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR) gaming is experiencing a surge in popularity, according to Tommy Palm, CEO and founder of Resolution Games. The company, which is known for producing award-winning VR and AR titles such as Demeo, Blaston, and others, hosted the Resolution Games Showcase, the industry’s first event dedicated to showcasing VR and AR games. The Showcase included the beta launch of Spatial Ops, a mixed reality game that utilizes Passthrough technology to deliver the world’s first competitive multiplayer shooter in mixed reality, as well as the world premieres of two major projects: Racket Club and Demeo Battles. The event also featured updates for popular games such as Demeo and Bait!, and provided a glimpse into Resolution Games’ recent activities in AR and MR, its Tinyverse approach to immersive social spaces, and its involvement in VR esports in 2022.

One of the standout announcements at the Showcase was the availability of Spatial Ops in open beta on SideQuest. The game, which supports 1-8 players and utilizes Passthrough technology, allows players to transform any real-world space into an urban battlefield and compete against their friends in various game modes such as Team Deathmatch, Domination, Capture the Flag, and Free-for-All. Players can choose from a variety of weapons, including revolvers, riot shields, and rocket-propelled grenades, and take cover behind both physical and digital objects to avoid incoming fire.

In addition to Spatial Ops, the Resolution Games Showcase also revealed the world premieres of Racket Club and Demeo Battles. Racket Club is a VR sports game that allows players to participate in realistic, physics-based racquet sports such as tennis, ping pong, and badminton. The game features intuitive motion controls that make it easy to play, as well as various game modes including single player, multiplayer, and mini-games. Demeo Battles, on the other hand, is a multiplayer tabletop game set in the Demeo universe. Players can team up with their friends to battle against AI-controlled monsters and bosses, or compete against each other in player-versus-player combat.

The Resolution Games Showcase also featured updates for fan-favorite games such as Demeo and Bait!. Demeo, which is a multiplayer tabletop game set in a fantasy world, received the final adventure in the Elven King Saga, while Bait!, one of the most downloaded VR games of all time, received its first major content update since 2016.

In addition to new game announcements and updates, the Resolution Games Showcase also provided a glimpse into the company’s recent activities in AR and MR, as well as its Tinyverse approach to immersive social spaces. The company has also been heavily involved in VR esports, with plans to continue its involvement in 2022.

Overall, the Resolution Games Showcase demonstrated the strength and positive direction of the VR and AR gaming industry, according to Tommy Palm. The company, which has experienced significant growth in the past year and recently opened a U.S. headquarters in Austin, Texas, has acquired Zenz VR and its team, and is continuously finding new ways to innovate with the latest XR technologies. As the industry continues to grow and evolve, Resolution Games is poised to be at the forefront of the latest trends and technologies in VR and AR gaming.
